What the job is

This is a Floor Assistant position at VKB Group, working under GWK Retail in Douglas, Northern Cape. The VKB Group is a well-known agricultural company that supports farmers and produces fresh food for consumers. They operate in all parts of the food supply chain, from farming to processing, logistics, and selling products locally and globally. What you will do

You will be responsible for drawing merchandise from the stockroom when requested. You will mark the items and bring them onto the sales floor, then pack them onto the shelves. You will plan, direct, and oversee the loading and unloading of cargo and goods, making sure the weight is distributed safely and loads are secured properly. You will also inspect cargo and paperwork for accuracy before sending it out, coordinate with drivers and warehouse staff, and keep detailed records of all loads and movements. Additionally, you will report any issues, damages, or incidents during loading or unloading and ensure a safe working environment.

What you need

You must have a Grade 12 certificate or an NQF Level 4 qualification. Experience in agricultural retail is a plus. You need at least 1 to 3 years of experience in transport, warehousing, or logistics. You should be physically fit to handle heavy tasks and have knowledge of load planning, weight distribution, and safety rules. A clear criminal record is required, and you must be available to work weekends and public holidays as scheduled. Strong skills in decision-making, problem-solving, teamwork, communication, and organization are essential.
