What the job is

This is a Floor Assistant position at VKB Group, working under GWK Retail in Douglas, Northern Cape. The VKB Group is a well-known agricultural company that supports farmers and produces fresh food for consumers. They operate across the entire food supply chain, from farming to processing, logistics, and global markets. This role is part of their retail and input retail division, helping to manage stock and merchandise in their stores.

What you will do

You will be responsible for drawing merchandise from the stockroom as requested. You will mark the items and bring them onto the store floor, then pack them onto the shelves. You will plan, direct, and oversee the loading and unloading of cargo and goods, ensuring weight distribution and load securing meet safety standards. You will inspect cargo and documentation for accuracy before dispatch and coordinate with drivers, dispatchers, and warehouse staff. You will also keep accurate records of loads, movements, and reconciliations, and report any deviations, damages, or incidents during loading or unloading.

What you need

You must have a Grade 12 certificate or NQF4 qualification. Experience in agricultural retail is recommended, and at least 1 to 3 years of experience in transport, warehousing, or logistics operations is required. You need to be physically fit and able to handle heavy-duty tasks, and you must have a clear criminal record. Knowledge of load planning, weight distribution, and safety regulations is essential. You will also need to work weekends and public holidays as per the roster.
