What the job is

This is a Senior Buyer position at Rand Refinery, a company based in Johannesburg East Rand, Gauteng. The role is a fixed-term contract for 12 months and focuses on managing the buying process for capital projects. The job involves ensuring that all purchases for these projects are done efficiently, on time, and within budget while following company rules and laws.

What you will do

You will handle the entire process of buying goods, services, and equipment for capital projects. This includes checking prices, quotes, and contract terms before placing orders. You will also solve any issues related to purchases, suppliers, invoices, or payments quickly. Additionally, you will help with evaluating suppliers, finding ways to save costs, and managing requests for quotes. You will track orders, speed up deliveries, and keep project managers updated on the status of their orders.

What you need

You must have a Matric certificate and a qualification in Supply Chain Management or Procurement at NQF Level 5. You need at least 3 to 5 years of experience in buying for capital projects (CAPEX) and at least 2 years in a technical purchasing environment. You should understand the Procure-to-Pay process and know how CAPEX purchasing works. Skills in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Email) and SAP are required, along with strong analytical, planning, and negotiation abilities.
