What the job is

This is a full-time position for a Restaurant Manager at Sun International in Cape Town. The role involves overseeing the daily operations of a restaurant, ensuring high standards of service, and managing a team to deliver excellent customer experiences.

What you will do

You will manage the restaurant’s day-to-day activities, including food and beverage service, staff scheduling, and customer satisfaction. You will develop and implement business plans, monitor stock and equipment, and ensure health, safety, and hygiene standards are met. You will also handle shift briefings, cash-ups, and reports, as well as train and motivate staff. Additionally, you will manage budgets, control costs, and work with other departments to address risks and improve operations. You will interact with guests, resolve complaints, and ensure promotions and events run smoothly.

What you need

You need a Grade 12 certificate and a 3-year Hotel School Diploma or equivalent qualification. You must have 5-6 years of experience in the food and beverage industry, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role. Key skills include food and beverage costing, product knowledge, stock control, and operational management. You should also have intermediate computer skills and be physically able to handle equipment and work shifts. Preference will be given to candidates from designated groups in line with employment equity policies.
