What the job is

This is a Bartender position at Sun International in Cape Town. The role involves preparing and serving drinks in the restaurant or banqueting areas, ensuring high standards of service and professionalism at all times.

What you will do

You will set up the bar area before service, including preparing all necessary items and checking that the bar display and equipment are clean and working properly. You will stock the bar, take guest orders accurately, and serve drinks according to the menu and outlet standards. You will explain menu items, make recommendations, and be attentive to guest requests. After service, you will clear glasses, provide billing, handle cash-ups, and complete stock sheets. You will also follow health, safety, and hygiene rules, participate in stock takes, and report any issues or breakages. Additionally, you will engage with guests by greeting them warmly, understanding their preferences, and handling any complaints or suggestions professionally.

What you need

You need at least 2 years of experience as a bartender. A Grade 12 certificate is preferred. You should have knowledge of beverages and cocktails, as well as skills in operating bar equipment and providing excellent customer service. You must be able to work shifts, move equipment, and perform similar tasks in different outlets if needed. Basic computer literacy and cashiering skills are also required. Strong communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills are essential.
