What the job is
The University of the Free State is hiring a Lecturer in Teacher Education for its Qwaqwa Campus in the Free State. This is a permanent position in the Faculty of Education, specifically within the Department of Curriculum Studies and Higher Education. The role focuses on teaching and research in the field of Teacher Education.
What you will do
You will teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Curriculum Studies and Teacher Education. You will also participate in the Work Integrated Learning program, which includes Teaching Practice. Additionally, you will conduct research, publish in accredited journals, and contribute to curriculum development. Supervising students and collaborating with colleagues on faculty tasks and leadership duties are also part of the role.
What you need
You must have a Doctoral degree in Education with a focus on Teacher Education (for a permanent role) or a Master’s degree in the same field (for a contract role, with the requirement to obtain a Doctoral degree within five years). You also need a formal teaching qualification with Life Sciences or Physical Sciences as a major subject. At least five years of experience in a school environment or two years in higher education or research is required. You should have experience presenting at conferences and producing research manuscripts.
