What the job is
The University of the Free State is hiring a Lecturer in Teacher Education at its Qwaqwa Campus in the Free State. This is a permanent position within the Faculty of Education, specifically in the Department of Curriculum Studies and Higher Education. The role focuses on teaching and research in the field of Teacher Education.
What you will do
You will teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Curriculum Studies and Teacher Education. You will also participate in the Work Integrated Learning program, which includes supervising Teaching Practice. Additionally, you will conduct research and publish findings in accredited journals, contribute to curriculum development, and supervise students. Administrative and leadership tasks within the faculty will also be part of your responsibilities.
What you need
You must have a Doctoral degree in Education with a focus on Teacher Education (for a permanent role) or a Master’s degree in the same field with a commitment to obtain a Doctoral degree within five years for a contract role. A formal teaching qualification with Life Sciences or Physical Sciences as a major subject is required. You should also have at least five years of experience in a school environment or two years in higher education or research. Strong academic records, research experience, and proven teaching abilities are essential.
