What the job is

This is a position for a Lecturer in Teacher Education at the University of the Free State, located at the Qwaqwa Campus in the Free State. The role is part of the Faculty of Education, specifically within the Department of Curriculum Studies and Higher Education. The job is a permanent position aimed at teaching and contributing to research in the field of Teacher Education.

What you will do

You will teach undergraduate and postgraduate modules in Curriculum Studies and Teacher Education. You will participate in the Work Integrated Learning programme, which includes Teaching Practice. You will engage in research activities and produce research outputs for accredited journals. You will also contribute to curriculum development, supervise students, and work collaboratively with colleagues in the faculty. Additionally, you will take on leadership and administrative tasks as required.

What you need

You must have a Doctoral degree in Education with a focus on Teacher Education, or a Master’s degree in the same field with a commitment to obtain a Doctoral degree within five years for a permanent appointment. You need a formal teaching qualification with Life Sciences or Physical Sciences as a major subject. You must have at least five years of experience in a school environment or two years in higher education or research. You should also have experience in presenting at conferences and producing manuscripts for publication.
