What the job is

This is a full-time Cashier position at The Building Company, located in Vereeniging, Gauteng. The company is a well-known retail business specializing in building materials, and they are looking for someone to join their team in this customer-facing role.

What you will do

You will greet customers warmly as they arrive at the checkout. You will scan and ring up their purchases, then accept payments using cash, card, or other methods. You will issue accurate receipts to customers after each transaction. You will balance the till at the end of your shift to ensure all money is accounted for. You will also handle public relations by being friendly and professional with every customer. Additionally, you will represent and promote the company’s values and culture in all your interactions.

What you need

You must have completed Grade 12 (Matric). You need to be fluent in English, both spoken and written. You must be available to work retail hours, which include weekends and public holidays. You should be helpful, polite, and have a positive attitude toward customers and colleagues. Knowledge of building materials and products will be beneficial. Having 2 to 3 years of experience as a cashier will also be an advantage. Basic computer skills are required to operate the till system.
