What the job is
Fraser Alexander Latin America is looking for a Risk Prevention Engineer to join their team at the Los Pelambres mining site in Salamanca, Chile. This role involves working on-site to ensure safety and health standards are met in a mining environment. The position follows a 7x7 shift rotation, meaning you will work 7 days followed by 7 days off.
What you will do
You will be responsible for implementing and overseeing safety and health programs to ensure a secure work environment. Your duties include conducting on-site inspections to check compliance with safety procedures and regulations. You will identify areas for improvement in work processes and conditions, and participate in investigations of incidents or accidents to determine causes and propose corrective actions. Additionally, you will support training activities related to safety, health, environment, and quality (SHEQ), and ensure all documentation and management systems for SHEQ are up to date. You will also supervise that all personnel and subcontractors follow safety measures and internal standards.
What you need
To qualify, you must have a degree in Risk Prevention Engineering and at least 5 years of experience in a similar role. A valid Class B driver’s license with at least 3 years of driving experience is required. You must be available to work in a 7x7 rotating day/night shift system and be physically capable of working at high altitudes (up to 3,000 meters above sea level). Knowledge of Chilean safety legislation, including DS-132, DS-594, and Law 16.744, is essential. Strong communication, problem-solving, and self-management skills are also needed.
