What the job is

Fraser Alexander Latin America is looking for a Safety and Health Engineer (SHEQ Technician) to join their team at the Los Pelambres mining site in the Coquimbo region of Chile. This role is for someone who is committed to workplace safety, operational excellence, and environmental care. The job involves working on-site in a mining operation and leading safety, health, environment, and quality (SHEQ) initiatives.

What you will do

You will implement, supervise, and control SHEQ management systems to ensure compliance with current laws and regulations, such as DS-132, DS-594, and Ley 16.744. You will lead safety, health, environment, and quality training sessions for staff. Your responsibilities will also include inspecting the site to ensure procedures are followed and suggesting preventive improvements. Additionally, you will take part in investigating incidents and implementing corrective actions. You will coordinate and support weekly and monthly SHEQ management tasks for the mining operation.

What you need

You must have a degree in Risk Prevention Engineering and at least 5 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in the mining industry. A valid Class B driver’s license with at least 3 years of driving experience is required. You should have knowledge of Integrated Management Systems and MLP regulations. Availability to work in a 7x7 shift pattern (day or night) is essential, along with passing a high-altitude medical exam (3000 meters). Strong commitment to safety and the environment, a results-driven mindset, good interpersonal skills, and effective communication are highly valued.
