What the job is
This is a full-time position for a Doctor at Faircape Health Institute, working in Somerset West, Western Cape. The role involves providing medical care to elderly patients in retirement villages, specifically at Heritage Manor and Bridgewater Manor. The doctor will focus on long-term healthcare and independent residents, offering continuity of care and building strong relationships with patients and their families.
What you will do
You will conduct medical consultations and manage the ongoing clinical care of long-term healthcare patients and retirement village residents. You will run scheduled clinic sessions at both Heritage Manor and Bridgewater Manor. You will independently manage patient consultations, reviews, and follow-ups within the facility. You will handle acute and chronic medical conditions, provide preventative healthcare, and participate in multidisciplinary care planning. You will also ensure accurate clinical documentation and billing, collaborate with nursing teams, and support family communication when needed.
What you need
You must have a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) degree and be registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA). You should have proven experience after completing community service. Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications are required. Experience in primary healthcare, geriatrics, or long-term care is advantageous. Strong communication, organizational, and time management skills are essential, along with a compassionate and patient-focused approach.
