What the job is

This is a job for an R&D Chemist Manager at a leading South African consumer goods manufacturer. The company is based in Amanzimtoti, KwaZulu-Natal. You will be responsible for leading a team to develop new cosmetic and personal care products from start to finish.

What you will do

You will design and create new formulas for personal care and cosmetic products that meet market trends and customer needs. You will manage and train a team of scientists in the lab to ensure they work safely and efficiently. You will oversee projects from the early development stage to full production, making sure everything meets quality and timeline goals. You will ensure all raw materials and finished products follow local and international regulations. You will work with manufacturing and quality teams to scale up lab formulas for mass production. You will also evaluate new raw materials, negotiate with suppliers, and find ways to reduce costs without lowering product quality.

What you need

You need a degree in Cosmetic Science, Chemistry, or a related field. You must have experience in developing formulas for cosmetics or personal care products. You should have a background in managing lab teams and overseeing research and development operations. You need strong knowledge of raw material interactions, emulsion technology, stability testing, and regulatory requirements. You must have good problem-solving skills, project management abilities, and clear communication skills.
