What the job is

This is a contract position for a Project Manager specializing in payments and card systems at iqbusiness South Africa, based in Johannesburg, Gauteng. The company is looking for a skilled professional to manage projects related to card payments, merchant acquiring, and payment acceptance in the banking or financial services industry.

What you will do

You will manage projects from start to finish, ensuring they meet business and technology goals. Your responsibilities include defining project objectives, creating and maintaining project plans, and coordinating activities between business and technology teams. You will also monitor risks, issues, and dependencies, provide regular updates to stakeholders, and facilitate project meetings and workshops. Additionally, you will support budget tracking, resource planning, and ensure all project documentation is completed at closure.

What you need

You must have at least 5 years of project management experience, preferably in banking or financial services, with a focus on card payments or related areas. Strong stakeholder, risk, and dependency management skills are required, along with experience in Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid delivery environments. A Matric certificate is essential, and PRINCE2 Practitioner or PMP certification is required. A degree or diploma in Business Management, Computer Science, or a related field is advantageous, as are Agile certifications like Scrum Master or SAFe.
