What the job is

This is a Compliance Officer role with Peace Parks Foundation, a well-known organization focused on large-scale ecological restoration in southern Africa. The job is based in Zinave National Park, Mozambique, and involves working on a project supported by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). The project aims to improve community development, infrastructure, and conservation efforts in the park.

What you will do

You will be responsible for ensuring compliance with project rules and regulations in Zinave National Park. This includes managing and reporting on the IUCN grant for the park’s development. You will coordinate Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) activities, such as training stakeholders, collecting and managing data, and ensuring data quality. You will also handle Environmental and Social Safeguard Management System (ESMS) tasks, like training stakeholders, monitoring safeguarding tools, and managing the Stakeholder and Complaints Registers. Additionally, you will assist in preparing monthly and quarterly reports for the Head of Operations and Development.

What you need

You must have at least three years of experience in a similar role, preferably with a qualification in Social and/or Environmental Safeguards, Monitoring and Evaluation, Environmental Management, or Social Sciences. Strong administrative and multitasking skills are required. You must be fluent in both Portuguese and English, and knowledge of Shangaan is a plus. Experience in report writing, environmental and social safeguards, and M&E methodology is essential. You should also be comfortable living and working in remote conditions.
