What the job is
Ivanhoe Mines is hiring a Group Manager Project Controls to work in Sandton, Gauteng. Ivanhoe Mines is a global mining company that focuses on clean energy and responsible mining practices. This role is part of their Business Systems team and involves managing large mining projects in Africa.
What you will do
You will oversee all project-related activities for major mining projects like Kamoa, Kipushi, and Platreef. This includes managing budgets, timelines, and quality standards to ensure projects are completed on time and within cost. You will lead a team of specialists and contractors, focusing on planning, cost control, procurement, logistics, contracts, and document management. You will also standardize and improve processes within the Project Controls department to ensure best practices are followed.
What you need
You must have at least 5 years of experience in mining and project management, preferably in a senior role. Experience in African countries, especially the DRC, is highly beneficial. You should have a degree or diploma in engineering or commerce. Strong skills in MS Office, MS Project or P6, and presentation abilities are required. Knowledge of mining, project controls, EPCM contracts, and project execution on the owner’s team is essential. Fluency in both English and French is a plus.
