What the job is
The Western Cape Blood Service is looking for a Learning and Development Practitioner to join their team in the Western Cape. This role is part of the Learning and Development department and focuses on helping employees gain the skills and knowledge they need to do their jobs well. If you enjoy teaching, training, and helping people grow in the medical and blood transfusion field, this job is for you.
What you will do
You will run training programs based on what the organization and employees need to learn. You will create, update, and review training materials and in-house programs. You will assess and track the progress of trainees and provide coaching, counseling, and mentoring. You will assist with testing and practical exams for Medical Technicians and ensure that employees meet their professional development requirements. You will work with schools and colleges to manage registrations, attendance, and assessments. You will prepare and give lectures to external groups about blood transfusion products and procedures. You will keep accurate training records and help with departmental tasks, including audits. You will also take part in committees, improvement projects, and the Quality Management System, while staying updated on blood banking and training methods.
What you need
You must have a Matric Certificate and a BTech in Biomedical Technology or a Bachelor of Health Science in Medical Laboratory Science. A Train-the-Trainer, Assessor, or Moderator qualification would be a plus. You must be registered with the HPCSA and have at least 3 years of experience in the field. You should have strong skills in training, administration, and record-keeping, as well as good communication and presentation abilities. You must be detail-oriented, committed to quality, and able to work well in a team. Proficiency in Microsoft 365 and knowledge of Quality Management Systems are also required.
