What the job is
The University of the Free State is looking for an Associate Professor or Professor to join the Department of Urban and Regional Planning on its Bloemfontein Campus. This is a permanent position for someone with strong academic and research experience in urban and regional planning.
What you will do
You will lead and conduct high-quality research in Urban and Regional Planning. You will teach and assess students at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels using various teaching methods. You will also mentor colleagues and students, develop and update course materials, and supervise postgraduate students. Additionally, you will contribute to departmental and university administration, seek external funding for research, and engage in community projects.
What you need
For the Associate Professor role, you need a PhD in Urban and Regional Planning or a related field, a strong research record with publications in accredited journals, and experience supervising master’s students. For the Professor role, you must have international recognition in your field, experience supervising at least 20 master’s and 10 PhD students, and a proven track record of delivering keynote addresses at conferences. Both roles require experience as an external examiner and involvement in scholarly societies or committees.
