What the job is

This is a contract position for a Senior Web Developer at iqbusiness South Africa. The role is based in Welgemoed, Cape Town, in the Western Cape. It is a hybrid job, meaning you will work 3 days on-site and 2 days from home.

What you will do

You will lead the design, development, and maintenance of web applications, focusing on the WordPress system. You will create custom themes, plugins, and API integrations using PHP. You will work with UI/UX designers to turn designs into functional websites using tools like Bootstrap, React, or Angular. You will debug issues, optimize applications for speed and security, and write clean, efficient code. You will also communicate technical ideas clearly to both technical and non-technical teams and contribute to team meetings and code reviews.

What you need

You need at least 5 years of full-stack development experience, with strong expertise in WordPress and PHP. You should be skilled in front-end technologies like Bootstrap and have experience with databases such as MySQL. Knowledge of RESTful APIs, version control systems like Git, and WordPress best practices is required. A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related field is advantageous. You must also have excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.

What you will get
