What the job is

This is a Field Manager position at Smollan, a company in the Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) industry. The job is based in Bloemfontein, Free State, and is a permanent role. You will be responsible for managing field operations and ensuring smooth execution of tasks in the retail environment.

What you will do

You will focus on achieving operational excellence by actively managing daily field activities. You will gather business insights and ensure they are executed effectively. You will work closely with a team, managing and motivating them while also handling your own tasks independently. You will engage with stakeholders to build strong relationships and ensure alignment on goals. You will manage promotional activities, achieve point-of-purchase objectives, and monitor new product innovations. You will also be responsible for meeting targets efficiently, controlling expenses, and making sure all operations run smoothly.

What you need

You need 2 to 3 years of sales experience in the FMCG industry at a managerial or supervisory level. A relevant Diploma at NQF level 5 is required. You must have a valid Code 8 driver’s license. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential. You should be able to analyze problems and solve them effectively. Computer literacy is a must, along with good business acumen and commercial awareness. Attention to detail, proactive thinking, leadership skills, planning and organizing abilities, negotiation skills, sales management skills, and decision-making skills are all important for this role.
