What the job is

This is a job for an Activity Assistant at Faircape Health Institute, a company that provides luxury healthcare and retirement services. The position is based in the Southern Suburbs of Cape Town, Western Cape. You will work as part of the Occupational Therapy team to help residents enjoy meaningful and engaging activities every day.

What you will do

You will help plan and run group and one-on-one activities for residents, guided by the Occupational Therapist. This includes leading cognitive, sensory, creative, and physical activities to keep residents active and socially engaged. You will also assist with themed events, outings, pet therapy sessions, and recreational activities. Additionally, you will observe residents and report any concerns to the therapist, maintain records, prepare activity materials, and participate in team meetings.

What you need

You must have a Matric certificate and training in Dementia care or related fields like elderly care or therapeutic activities. Experience in a similar role, especially in healthcare or elderly care, is required. You should be creative, energetic, and good at building relationships with elderly residents. Basic administration skills and the ability to follow procedures are also important.
