What the job is

Faircape Health Institute is looking for an Activity Assistant to join their team at Tokai Estate in the Southern Suburbs of Cape Town. This role is part of the Occupational Therapy team and focuses on creating meaningful activities for residents in a luxury healthcare setting. What you will do

You will help plan and run group and individual activities for residents, guided by the Occupational Therapist. Your tasks will include encouraging resident participation in social and therapeutic activities, conducting one-on-one sessions, and assisting with themed events, outings, and pet therapy. You will also observe residents and report any concerns, maintain attendance records, prepare activity materials, and contribute ideas to improve engagement programs. Additionally, you will attend team meetings and help with administrative tasks like documentation.

What you need

You must have a Matric certificate and training in Dementia care or related fields such as elderly care, therapeutic activities, or recreational therapy. Experience in a similar role, especially in healthcare or elderly care, is required. You should be creative, energetic, and able to build strong relationships with residents. Good interpersonal skills, a positive attitude, and the ability to follow procedures are essential. You must also have a clear criminal and credit record and provide two written references from your most recent employer.
