What the job is

This is a full-time position for a SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality) Coordinator at Samancor, a mining company based in the North West province. The role focuses on ensuring workplace safety, health, and environmental compliance in line with company goals and legal standards.

What you will do

You will coordinate daily SHEQ activities to meet company objectives, including zero harm and compliance with the Mine Health and Safety Act and ISO 45001:2018 standards. Your duties include conducting audits and inspections, reporting incidents, and ensuring corrective actions are taken. You will promote safety awareness through meetings and training, manage risk assessments, and oversee contractor safety files. Additionally, you will assist with emergency drills, monitor SHEQ equipment, and support departments in using management systems like IMS. You will also handle SHEQ standby duties and provide guidance on related matters.

What you need

You must have a Higher Certificate (NQF 5) or National Diploma (NQF 6) in Safety Management or be studying toward one. Computer literacy, especially in MS Office, is required. Knowledge of SHEQ Management Systems, ISO 45001, and the Mine Health and Safety Act is essential. Skills in auditing, incident investigation, risk management, and training are important. Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills are also needed.
