What the job is

The University of the Free State is looking for a Senior Lecturer to join the Department of Zoology and Entomology on the Qwaqwa Campus. This is a part-time contract position, working 25 hours per week for a duration of one year. The role involves teaching and research in the field of Zoology and Ecology.

What you will do

You will teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Behavioural Ecology, Human Ecological Footprint, and other ecology-related subjects. You will supervise postgraduate students at Honours, Masters, and Doctoral levels. Additionally, you will publish research in national and international peer-reviewed journals, contribute to curriculum development, and handle general administrative tasks within the department.

What you need

To qualify, you must have a PhD in Zoology, Ecology, or a related field. You need proven teaching experience in higher education, as well as experience presenting research at national conferences. You must also have a strong research background in ecological or zoological sciences, with publications in accredited journals. Experience supervising postgraduate students, an NRF rating, and membership in professional bodies are highly recommended.
