What the job is
Frogfoot Networks is hiring a Fibre Maintenance Technician to work in the Western Cape. This is a permanent, remote position where you will be part of the company’s Maintenance team. You will focus on keeping fibre optic networks running smoothly for both home and business customers.
What you will do
You will install, maintain, and fix fibre optic systems and network equipment. This includes testing optical parts, checking signal strength, and ensuring the network works well from the Node to Access Points. You will also plan work based on priorities, cooperate with other teams, and solve problems by analyzing information and checking that work meets standards. Additionally, you will communicate with customers, handle complaints, and ensure safety at all times. Overtime and standby duties may be required.
What you need
You must have a Matric certificate or equivalent work experience. A CFOT certification from the FOA or a similar institution is required. You need at least 12 to 24 months of experience in fibre network installations, testing, troubleshooting, and splicing. Skills in installing fibre ducts, cables, ONTs, and routers are essential. You should also be proficient in using MS Office tools and platforms like RT or Solid. Good teamwork, problem-solving, and communication skills are important.
