What the job is

This is a Graduate Data Analyst position at Smollan, a company based in Gauteng. The role is part of the Data and Technology team, which works across areas like data management, analytics, reporting, and automation. It is a great opportunity for someone with a background in Data Science, Information Systems, or IT to start their career in a fast-paced retail technology environment.

What you will do

You will work with data from different sources to find trends, inconsistencies, and patterns in retail field execution data. You will clean and organize raw data from store visits and image recognition systems so it can be used in business intelligence tools. You will create clear and interactive dashboards and reports using tools like Pyramid Analytics or Looker Studio to track important performance indicators. You will analyze data pipelines to find delays, bottlenecks, or redundancies and suggest improvements. You will also help document data structures, system designs, and dashboard details to keep the team’s knowledge base up to date. Additionally, you will support the implementation of Salesforce automations and measure the impact of system changes by comparing data before and after updates.

What you need

You must have completed a qualification at NQF Level 5 or 6 in Data Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, or a related field. You should be a recent graduate or have 1 to 2 years of experience since finishing your studies. You need a strong understanding of data structures, systems analysis, and querying languages, along with an analytical mindset. Retail experience is not required, as training will be provided on the job.
