What the job is

This is a job for an Assistant Catering Manager at Empact Group in Cape Town, Western Cape. The company is part of the food and beverage industry and is looking for someone to help manage food service operations in their kitchen. The position is a contract role with a fixed term.

What you will do

You will help manage the daily operations of the kitchen and assist in implementing the food production process. You will also help control food and labor costs and ensure compliance with HACCP standards. Your responsibilities will include developing and planning menus, managing the kitchen team, and assisting with both strategic and day-to-day operations of the catering service.

What you need

You must have a relevant qualification in food and beverage services or culinary arts. You need at least 3 years of experience in kitchen or progressive management, as well as experience working within budget guidelines. Knowledge of health, safety, and environment (HSE) standards, South African and industry-specific laws, and the catering environment (from fine dining to restaurant dining) is important. Strong customer service, management, communication, and computer skills are also required.
