What the job is
This is a contract position for a Professional Nurse at Right To Care, working in the Thembalethu Cluster in the Western Cape. The role focuses on providing community-based healthcare services, including planning, clinical care, health promotion, and adherence support. The nurse will work closely with community health workers and other stakeholders to improve health outcomes in the region.
What you will do
You will plan and coordinate healthcare services based on the community’s needs, such as identifying high-risk areas for diseases like TB and assigning tasks to team members based on their strengths. You will provide clinical care, including immunizations, family planning, cervical screenings, and HIV testing, as well as basic care for bedridden patients, wound management, and rehabilitation. You will also promote health and wellness through campaigns, education, and adherence support for patients. Additionally, you will supervise and train community health workers, ensure quality assurance, maintain accurate records, and manage administrative tasks like stock control and asset management.
What you need
You must have a Grade 12 certificate, a Diploma in General Nursing, and certifications in Reproductive Health and Dispensing Licence. At least one year of relevant experience is required. Strong planning, clinical, and team management skills are essential, as well as the ability to work in community settings and collaborate with stakeholders.
