What the job is

This is a Junior Software Engineer position at Lesaka Technologies, a fast-growing fintech company based in Plattekloof, Western Cape. You will work in a hybrid role based in Cape Town, helping to build and improve systems that handle millions of transactions every day.

What you will do

You will work on real production code from your first week, fixing bugs and adding new features to the EasyPay payments system. Your tasks will include building and shipping small to medium features, fixing issues reported from production, and writing tests for your code. You will also take part in code reviews, help solve production problems with senior engineers, and keep system documentation updated.

What you need

You should have 0 to 2 years of professional software development experience or a strong portfolio from personal or academic projects. You need to know at least one modern programming language like C#, Java, Python, or JavaScript. Understanding of databases, SQL, and Git is required. A degree, diploma, or equivalent training in computer science is also needed. Good problem-solving skills and the ability to debug unfamiliar code are important.
