What the job is

This is a full-time AI Engineer position at Cape Union Mart International, based in Cape Town, Western Cape. The role involves working within the Business Intelligence team to develop and implement AI solutions across the company. It is a hybrid position that combines technical engineering with collaboration across different business areas.

What you will do

You will design, build, and maintain AI solutions such as large language models, predictive models, and automated workflows. You will work with the company’s Oracle Analytics Cloud and data warehouse to enhance reporting and analysis. You will also engage with non-technical teams to understand their needs, explain AI capabilities in simple terms, and help them adopt AI responsibly. Additionally, you will contribute to AI governance, standards, and the company’s broader AI strategy.

What you need

You must have strong experience in AI or machine learning engineering, including working with large language models, cloud-based AI tools, and data platforms. You should be able to develop solutions that move beyond testing into real business use. Strong communication skills are essential, as you will work with stakeholders from various departments. Experience in retail or establishing AI processes is a plus.
