What the job is
This is a permanent position for a Senior Mechanical Engineer at Eskom, a leading company in electricity, energy, and water supply. The job is based in Durbanville, Western Cape, and focuses on providing specialized mechanical engineering services to Peaking Power Stations. You will work within the Peaking Generators Engineering department, supporting the Peaking Generation business unit.
What you will do
You will solve complex mechanical engineering problems that affect generator and plant performance. You will develop and integrate lifecycle plans for generator mechanical systems and components. Providing specialist engineering advice and technical support to Peaking Power Stations will be a key part of your role. You will also manage engineering projects, plant modifications, and technical investigations. Additionally, you will perform technical and financial evaluations to recommend practical solutions and maintain engineering standards, specifications, and technical requirements.
What you need
You must have a Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering with 480 credits at NQF level 8. At least 4 years of related technical experience in engineering technologies is required. You must be registered as a Professional Engineer with ECSA. Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills are essential, along with knowledge of design codes, engineering theory, and relevant processes.
