What the job is

We are looking for a skilled Machine Learning and AI Developer to join the Data and AI team at iOCO in Johannesburg, Gauteng. This is a contract role where you will help design, build, and maintain AI and machine learning solutions that solve real business problems. You will work closely with different teams to turn data into useful tools for the company.

What you will do

You will design, develop, and deploy machine learning models and AI systems from start to finish. You will create and manage large-scale AI pipelines that process data in batches or in real time. You will train, test, and improve machine learning models to meet business needs. You will work with other teams to turn their requirements into working AI solutions. You will set up and manage systems to track model performance, update models when needed, and ensure everything runs smoothly. You will also research new AI technologies and suggest ways to use them in the company.

What you need

You need at least five years of experience in machine learning, AI engineering, or a related field. You should have a degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a similar subject. Strong skills in Python, SQL, Spark, and PySpark are required. Experience with cloud platforms like Azure, especially Azure Machine Learning and Databricks, is important. You should also know about MLOps, CI/CD pipelines, and tools like MLflow or Kubeflow. Knowledge of Generative AI, Large Language Models, and vector databases is a plus.
