What the job is

This is a contract position for a Machine Learning and AI Developer at iOCO, a company based in Johannesburg, Gauteng. The role is part of the Data and AI team, working on projects for MTN Group. You will help design, build, and maintain AI and machine learning solutions that solve real business problems.

What you will do

You will design, develop, and deploy machine learning models and AI solutions from start to finish. You will create and manage systems that process large amounts of data in real-time or batches. You will work with teams across the business to turn their needs into working AI tools. You will set up and maintain systems to track, test, and update machine learning models to keep them working well. You will also research new AI technologies and suggest ways to use them in the company.

What you need

You need at least 5 years of experience in machine learning, AI engineering, or a related field. You should have a degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a similar area. Strong skills in Python, SQL, Spark, and PySpark are required. Experience with cloud platforms like Azure, including Azure Machine Learning and Databricks, is important. Knowledge of MLOps, CI/CD pipelines, and tools like MLflow or Kubeflow is also needed. Familiarity with Generative AI, Large Language Models, and vector databases will be an advantage.
