What the job is

A company that builds and manages large-scale power plants and energy storage systems across Africa is looking for a Senior DevOps / SRE Cloud Engineer. This is a remote or hybrid role, depending on your location. You will be responsible for managing the company’s cloud-based systems on Microsoft Azure, specifically focusing on Kubernetes platforms.

What you will do

You will set up and manage cloud infrastructure using Terraform, a tool for creating and changing infrastructure safely and efficiently. You will maintain automated processes for building, testing, and deploying software using GitHub Actions. You will also handle monitoring, alerts, and reliability standards to ensure systems run smoothly. Additionally, you will manage security, access controls, and help engineering teams solve operational problems to improve system reliability.

What you need

You need at least 5 years of experience in DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering, or Platform Engineering, with 2 to 3 years of hands-on experience running Kubernetes in production and at least 2 years working with Microsoft Azure. A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is required. Certifications like CKA, CKAD, or Azure Solutions Architect are a plus. You should also have strong skills in Terraform, Docker, Kubernetes operations, observability tools like Prometheus and Grafana, and scripting in Bash. Experience with Python, data platforms, and compliance standards like POPIA or GDPR is preferred.

The company offers a competitive salary ranging from R750,000 to R1,092,000 per year, depending on your experience and skills. The role is permanent and allows for remote or hybrid work, giving you flexibility in how and where you work.
