What the job is

This is a job for a General Manager at Kontak Recruitment, based in Brits, North West. The role involves leading a quarry operation, making sure it runs safely, legally, and profitably. You will be in charge of the entire site, managing production, safety, and team performance.

What you will do

You will oversee all quarry activities, including mining, crushing, screening, and loading materials. You will plan and manage production schedules to meet targets and reduce downtime. You will ensure all work follows the Mine Health and Safety Act and environmental laws. You will lead the team, manage budgets, and handle maintenance to keep equipment running smoothly. You will also ensure materials meet quality standards and coordinate with sales and transport teams for deliveries.

What you need

You need at least 5 years of experience in quarry or mining operations, preferably with knowledge of drilling, blasting, and stone production. You should have managed teams, budgets, and maintenance before. You must understand safety laws, environmental rules, and how to operate heavy machinery like excavators and crushers. Strong leadership and problem-solving skills are required, and you must be willing to work on-site in dusty, noisy conditions, including overtime or weekends when needed.

What you will get

The salary for this permanent, full-time role is between R30,000 and R35,000 per month, including benefits. You will have the opportunity to lead a major operation and work in a hands-on, dynamic environment.
