What the job is

This is a Field Manager position at Smollan, a company in the retail industry. The job is based in Johannesburg North, Gauteng, and is a permanent role. You will be responsible for managing promotional activities and ensuring operational excellence in the field.

What you will do

You will manage promotional activities to ensure they run smoothly and effectively. You will focus on achieving operational excellence by being proactive in your approach. You will work as part of a team and manage yourself independently to meet targets. You will also manage people, ensuring they perform their roles effectively. Additionally, you will monitor new innovations in the industry and use business insights to improve execution. Controlling expenses and engaging with stakeholders will be part of your responsibilities. Finally, you will work to achieve Point of Purchase (POP) objectives.

What you need

You need 3 to 5 years of sales experience in the Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) industry at a managerial or supervisory level. A relevant Diploma or Degree at NQF level 6 or 7 is required. You must have a valid Code 8 Driver’s license. Strong sales management, decision-making, and communication skills (both verbal and written) are essential. You should also have analytical and problem-solving abilities, be computer literate, and possess business acumen and commercial awareness. Attention to detail, proactive thinking, leadership skills, planning and organizing abilities, and negotiation skills are also important.
