What the job is
This is a full-time position for a Secondary Plant Technician at Eskom, a major electricity and energy company in South Africa. The job is based in Mossel Bay, Western Cape, and focuses on maintaining and operating electrical systems to ensure a steady power supply for the region.
What you will do
You will be responsible for maintaining and operating the Secondary Plant safely and effectively to ensure continuous electricity supply. Your tasks include contributing to database integrity, providing technical services, standardizing outputs, improving performance, and investigating faults. You will also ensure compliance with Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality (SHEQ) standards, participate in training, and be prepared for emergency situations.
What you need
To qualify, you must have a National Diploma or National N Diploma in Electrical Engineering at NQF level 6 with 240 credits. You also need practical technical experience (P1 and P2) in the Grids Business. Important skills include technical knowledge of electrical systems, problem-solving, communication, computer/operational technology skills, and the ability to use fall arrest equipment. You should also have leadership, interpersonal, and negotiation skills, as well as knowledge of Eskom’s procedures and legal requirements.
