What the job is

This is a full-time position for a Tufting Mechanic at Belgotex Floorcoverings, a leading manufacturer of carpets and artificial grass in Africa. The company is based in Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal, and specializes in creating high-quality flooring solutions for commercial markets. What you will do

You will provide mechanical maintenance support to keep the Tufting department running smoothly and efficiently. Your tasks will include changing loopers, knives, and needles accurately on the machines. You will perform general maintenance on all equipment, handle product changeovers according to specifications, and assist with installations. You will also troubleshoot machine breakdowns, perform technical procedures, and adjust machine widths to meet customer needs. Additionally, you will maintain records such as breakdown reports, shift logs, and toolbox talk documents.

What you need

You must have a Matric certificate and a completed qualification in CTFL or Carpet Technology. You need at least 5 to 8 years of experience in a similar role. The job requires the ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and in a standing position for long hours. You must be comfortable working on elevated surfaces and flexible to work extended hours when needed. You should also be able to tube and label a creel in the correct sequence.
