This is a Senior Mobile Software Developer role at Smollan Technologies, a company that builds advanced mobile and AI solutions for businesses. The job is based in a hybrid work setup in South Africa. Smollan Technologies creates smart mobile apps that use AI and edge computing to process data directly on devices, even in poor network conditions.

What you will do

You will take full ownership of the mobile app code, including the camera capture system, offline data sync, and app releases. You will build and improve high-performance camera pipelines that check image quality in real time and track metadata. You will design systems that store data locally and sync it reliably when the network is unstable. You will integrate AI models directly onto devices to run tasks like computer vision while managing performance and battery life. You will maintain and improve the Flutter and Android codebase, ensuring clean and efficient architecture. You will manage the release process, including automated testing, app updates, and monitoring app performance. You will work closely with backend and machine learning teams to test and improve the app in real-world conditions.

What you need

You need at least 5 years of experience in developing mobile apps, with strong skills in Flutter and Dart, as well as deep knowledge of Android development using Kotlin. You should have experience with on-device AI, such as TensorFlow Lite, and be comfortable working with camera APIs and image processing. You must be able to optimize apps for performance, memory, and battery usage on lower-end devices. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work in fast-paced, agile environments are required. You should also have good communication skills to collaborate with technical and non-technical teams.
