Job Summary:

We are currently seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Inventory Control Specialist to join our dynamic team. The Inventory Control Specialist will be responsible for generating, applying, and maintaining barcode labels for all products, ensuring compliance with industry standards. This role involves tracking stock using barcodes, ensuring data accuracy, training staff, and troubleshooting any barcode-related issues. The ideal candidate will have experience with barcode systems and inventory management, along with strong technical and organisational skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Generating and Printing Barcodes: Creating barcode labels for all products, ensuring they comply with industry standards.
  • Applying Barcodes: Affixing barcode labels to products.
  • Maintaining the Barcode System: Ensuring that the barcode software and hardware (such as printers and scanners) are functioning correctly.
  • Inventory Tracking: Using barcodes to track the movement of inventory within the warehouse, including receiving, storing, picking, and shipping items.
  • Data Entry and Accuracy: Ensuring that barcode information is accurately entered into the inventory management system and matches the physical inventory.
  • Training Staff: Training warehouse staff on how to use barcode scanners and understand barcode processes.
  • Troubleshooting: Addressing any issues related to barcode scanning or printing.


Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Attention to Detail: Ensuring accuracy in barcode generation, application, and data entry.
  • Communication: Effectively training and supporting staff.
  • Organisational Skills: Prioritising and managing multiple tasks efficiently. Keeping accurate records of all barcode-related activities and maintaining organised documentation for auditing and troubleshooting purposes.
  • Problem-solving: Quickly identifying and resolving issues with barcode systems.
  • Inventory Tracking: Experience with barcode printers and scanners. Ability to track inventory using barcodes throughout the warehouse process.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Education: Grade 12 Certificate or equivalent.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience: Three years’ experience in a warehouse environment.
  • Experience: Proficiency in barcode generation software and inventory management systems.
