Job Description


ENVIRONMENT:
A prominent retail and wholesale company specializing in office and school supplies in South Africa is seeking an experienced Warehouse Manager to oversee the full operational process, from inbound to dispatch. The role involves ensuring the efficient, timely, and cost-effective distribution of goods, managing the transportation of products from the warehouse to branches within optimal timeframes and at minimal cost. The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 5 years of experience as a Warehouse Manager in an FMCG environment, extensive FMCG industry experience, a degree or diploma in Logistics, and a valid Code 10 Driver’s License.
 
DUTIES:
  • Schedule deliveries to branches
  • Ensure effective housekeeping and security measures
  • Adhere to OHASA and safety regulations within the warehouse
  • Manage stocktake procedures and stock inventory
  • Oversee staff management
  • Identify and address the training needs of staff
  • Maintain accurate staff records
  • Coach and mentor staff
  • Ensure staff perform their duties accurately and efficiently
  • Ensure adherence to established control systems
  • Oversee administrative compliance by staff
  • Resolve queries promptly in accordance with organizational policies and procedures
  • Ensure vehicles are maintained per organizational requirements
  • Manage fleet operations
  • Schedule regular vehicle maintenance and ensure vehicles are kept in clean and operable condition
  • Plan, organize, and delegate work activities
  • Arrange training and development interventions based on identified training needs for individuals, teams, and branches
  • Contribute to the development of the organization’s supply chain strategy
  • Create and maintain a positive working environment
  • Facilitate smooth and transparent internal branch communication processes
  • Recognize and use appropriate communication methods based on the nature of the query
  • Identify and utilize information resources effectively to resolve queries and communicate changes
  • Ensure staff adhere to organizational policies and procedures
  • Monitor and assess staff performance
  • Manage ESS records for various leave types
  • Ensure supply chain KPIs are met (e.g., OTIF, inventory accuracy, dock-to-stock)
  • Ensure staff meet individual KPIs (e.g., work rate, accuracy)
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and reduce or maintain costs
  • Oversee synchronized operations across functional departments
  • Provide monthly performance reporting on:
    • Supply chain KPIs
    • Individual KPIs
    • Projects
  • Lead and manage continuous improvement projects.
 
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Experience: 5 years’ experience as a warehouse manager in a FMCG environment
  • WMS Background (SCALE and advantage, SAP, AX, Oracle, ISASTORE).
  • Qualification: Matric 5 years’ experience in FMCG experience
  • Logistics degree/diploma
  • Code 10 Drivers License
