Job Description: Resident Engineer (Civil Engineering – Urban/Road Works)

Position: Resident Engineer
Location: Cape Town (CBD project)
Duration: 12-month contract (with potential extension)
Budget: R80,000 per month
Start Date: April 2025

Hire Resolve is looking for a Resident Engineer to join our client’s team in Cape Town on a 12-month project. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise and manage civil engineering work on-site, ensuring all construction activities are carried out according to design specifications, budgets, and schedules.
• Oversee urban road works projects, ensuring adherence to quality standards, compliance with safety regulations, and timely completion.
• Monitor and inspect work on-site, providing technical guidance and ensuring all civil work meets required specifications.
• Liaise with project teams, contractors, and clients, coordinating project activities and resolving issues that arise during construction.
• Ensure that all site records are maintained, including reports, certifications, and quality assurance documentation.
• Conduct regular site inspections, reporting on project progress and highlighting any challenges or risks.
• Ensure that the project is aligned with the budget, reviewing costs, and managing any variations to the project scope.
• Provide direction to the project team and subcontractors, ensuring that work is executed safely and in accordance with the project plan.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Minimum Experience: 5 years of site supervision experience in civil engineering, specifically within urban and road works.
• Registration: Must be a registered Professional Engineer, Technologist, or Technician with a recognized engineering body.
• Age Limit: Ideally not older than 65.
• Skills: Strong background in civil urban infrastructure, road works, and site supervision.
• Location Preference: Candidates should ideally be based in Cape Town.
• Mileage: Limited mileage will be paid for site visits as this is a CBD project.
