Senior Accountant

Hire Resolve is seeking a highly skilled Senior Accountant to join our client’s team, a well-established footwear manufacturing company based in Durban. The ideal candidate will play a key role in managing financial operations, ensuring compliance with South African regulations, and supporting business growth through accurate reporting and strategic financial planning. Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.

• Conduct variance analysis and provide financial insights to senior management.

• Maintain general ledger integrity and oversee reconciliations.

• Develop and monitor budgets in alignment with company objectives.

• Conduct cash flow forecasting to support financial planning.

• Assist in cost control and profitability analysis.

• Ensure compliance with IFRS, SARS, and other regulatory bodies.

• Oversee VAT, PAYE, and corporate tax submissions.

• Liaise with auditors and regulatory agencies.

• Supervise and manage creditors and debtors.

• Oversee credit control to ensure healthy cash flow management.

• Review supplier and customer reconciliations.

• Ensure payroll compliance with statutory deductions and labor laws.

• Assist with employee cost analysis and payroll reconciliation.

• Work closely with supply chain and production teams to track costs.

• Ensure accurate costing of raw materials and finished goods.

• Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality.

• Optimize accounting processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

• Implement and improve ERP systems for financial management.

• Train junior finance staff on best accounting practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

• CA(SA), CIMA, or equivalent professional qualification preferred.

• Minimum 5-7 years of accounting experience, preferably in manufacturing or FMCG.

• Strong understanding of cost accounting and financial controls.

• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Sage, Pastel, SAP, or similar).

• Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, financial modeling).

• Knowledge of IFRS and South African tax laws.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to lead and mentor a finance team.

• High attention to detail and accuracy.

• Strong organizational and time management skills.

• Ethical, reliable, and able to handle confidential information.

• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
