An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Engineering Superintendent at I&J Waterfront, Cape Town. The purpose of this role is for the overall technical operations of the fleet. This includes overseeing and managing shore-based engineers who under this report, are responsible for the overseeing of daily operations of maintenance and repair, budgeting, survey schedules, on board general assessment of vessels, inspections, and vessel repair outages.

Key Performance Areas:
- Management of the Shore and vessel based Engineers and their performance.
- To manage vessel equipment condition and reliability via the sea going staff.
- Establish an in-depth marine engineering knowledge across all functional location of every vessel within the fleet.
- To work hand in hand with the planning department to plan, implement and completed all vessel maintenance tasks.
- Oversee the daily operations of maintenance and repair, budgeting, survey schedules on board general assessment of vessels, inspections and vessel turn around works.
- Ensure the vessels are technically operational or otherwise managed accordingly to the management requirements.
- To plan maintenance and corrective works required during vessel turn around stops.
- To implement, update and monitor, engineering standing orders and standard operating procedures (SOP’s)
- To look at best engineering practices for all vessels and establish a sound Engineering Excellence practice for the marine engineering department.
- To assist with making sure all work is completed to and acceptable Quality Control level which is reported and closed off to company standards.
- Make sure that the Planning and Shore based engineering departments deliver required services for the marine engineering department to operate within budget and to a standard acceptable to management.

Minimum Requirements:
Experience:
- Minimum 5-8 years in a similar role looking after no less than 5 sea going vessels
- Sea going Chief Engineer who has served at least 10 years at sea as senior engineering officer and been in the position or served as fleet superintendent
- Possess relevant sea-going work experience as Chief Engineer or Marine Engineer with minimum Class 1 certification unlimited
- Ship superintendency qualification.
Qualifications:
- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering

- Required to travel to sites with valid driver’s license and own transport
