Mercedes Qualified Technician

A Mercedes Benz dealership in Pretoria is looking for a Mercedes Benz qualified motor vehicle technician to join their Service Department.

Requirements:

• Red Seal Trade Test (Motor Vehicle) 
• Three years experience post qualified
• Mercedes Benz qualified (non-negotiable)
• Diagnostic training

Responsibilities:

• Vehicle maintenance and repair
  • Conduct routine vehicle servicing, including oil changes, tire rotations, and brake inspections.
  • Replace faulty parts such as brakes, filters, and spark plugs.
• Diagnostics and troubleshooting
  • Use diagnostic tools and software to identify mechanical, electrical, and electronic faults.
  • Analyse error codes and recommend appropriate repairs.
  • Perform test drives to verify issues and confirm repairs.
• Electrical and electronic system repairs
  • Diagnose and repair faults in vehicle electrical systems, such as batteries, starters, and alternators.
  • Handle issues related to vehicle sensors, ECU (Engine Control Unit), and ABS (Anti-lock Braking System).
• Engine and transmission repairs
  • Inspect and repair engine components, including timing belts, fuel injectors, and cooling systems.
  • Diagnose and fix transmission issues, including manual and automatic gearboxes.
• Vehicle testing and quality assurance
  • Conduct post-repair inspections to ensure functionality and safety compliance.
  • Use specialized equipment like oscilloscopes and scan tools for advanced diagnostics.
• Customer communication
  • Explain diagnostic findings and repair recommendations to customers in a clear manner.
  • Provide cost estimates for repairs and obtain customer approval before proceeding.
• Documentation and reporting
  • Maintain accurate records of diagnostics, repairs, and parts used.
  • Update service logs and ensure compliance with warranty requirements.
• Workshop maintenance
  • Keep workstations clean and organised.
  • Ensure diagnostic tools and equipment are in proper working order.
• Adherence to safety standards
  • Follow safety protocols when handling vehicles and equipment.
  • Stay updated on industry safety practices and regulations.
• Continual learning
  • Stay informed about new diagnostic tools, vehicle technologies, and repair techniques.
  • Attend training sessions and workshops to enhance skills.
