Senior Teradata Data Engineer

We are currently seeking a data engineer with five to eight years of experience in data engineering and strong back-end and front-end development skills.

The successful candidate will build data warehouse components on a Teradata warehouse (3NF) and ensure compliance with data governance policies, including documenting data definitions and maintaining business glossaries.

Requirements

  • Minimum qualification: BComm, BEng, BSc Eng, BSc Informatics, or a related degree.
  • At least eight years of experience in data engineering.
  • Familiarity with one or more programming languages suitable for specific departmental requirements.
  • System design experience is advantageous.
  • Five to eight years of data engineering experience.
  • Strong back-end and front-end development skills.
  • Strong SQL skills, especially on MSSQL.

Experience in

  • Teradata
  • Power BI
  • Hive
  • Ab Initio (a bonus)
  • Data APIs
  • Building data warehouse components on Teradata warehouse (3NF).
  • Presenting data through dashboards and visualisations using Power BI.
  • Complying with data governance requirements, including documenting data definitions and business glossaries.
  • Securing approval for data models before use.
  • Workflow tools like TIBCO AMX or Camunda (an advantage).

The reference number for this position is GZ59528, which is a contract position based in Sandton, offering a contract rate of R680 per hour, negotiable based on experience and ability.
