RPO Recruitment is actively seeking an experienced Import Controller to join our client’s team in Durban. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated professional to manage and oversee the import process, ensuring the seamless flow of goods while complying with all regulatory and organizational requirements. Responsibilities
- Coordinate and monitor the entire import process, including shipping, documentation, and customs clearance.
- Ensure compliance with import regulations, customs requirements, and company policies.
- Manage communication with shipping agents, suppliers, and freight forwarders to ensure timely delivery of goods.
- Handle all import-related documentation, including bills of lading, invoices, and certificates of origin.
- Monitor and track shipments, resolving any delays or discrepancies efficiently.
- Maintain accurate records of all import activities for audit and reporting purposes.
- Collaborate with internal teams such as procurement and inventory management to align import schedules with operational needs.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; a relevant qualification in logistics or supply chain management is preferred.
- Proven experience as an Import Controller or in a similar logistics role.
- Strong understanding of import regulations, customs procedures, and international shipping practices.
- Proficient in using shipping and logistics software.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.
- Strong communication skills to liaise effectively with various stakeholders.
- Attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines.
