Site Reliability Engineer

A fantastic opportunity has opened for a site reliability engineer to join a specialist team creating next-generation software systems for a leading global manufacturer. This role involves developing system solutions to meet quality and delivery standards in a high-stakes environment.

Core requirements

• Experience: Minimum of eight years’ commercial operations experience
• Technical knowledge:
  • Container orchestration platforms, preferably Kubernetes
  • Unix/Linux OS internals and administration, including Unix networking stack knowledge
  • Networking expertise: subnetting, routing, firewalling, DNS, reverse proxies, and OSI layer understanding
  • Deep understanding of the TCP stack, with the ability to debug issues at the socket/driver level
  • Software development proficiency in languages such as C# or JavaScript/Typescript
  • Ability to build automated CI/CD pipelines with custom automation using bash or Python
  • IaaS expertise, including Linux VM deployment and maintenance with Ansible
• Additional experience:
  • Cloud technologies such as Confluent Kafka, managed Kubernetes engines (e.g., Azure Kubernetes Service), proxies (e.g., Azure Application Gateway), and managed databases like PostgreSQL
  • Working with CI/CD pipelines from Gitlab or GitHub Actions
  • Familiarity with Git and repository hosting platforms such as Gitlab, Nexus, and GitHub (self-hosted)

Reference number for this role is GZ59887, a semi-remote contract position based in Midrand/Centurion, offering a rate between R five hundred seventy and R700 per hour, negotiable on experience and skills.
