Production Manager

A leading manufacturer of hydraulic gear pumps and precision-engineered components is seeking an experienced Production Manager to oversee operations at their facility in Epping Industria, Cape Town. This is an excellent opportunity for a results-driven and technically skilled professional to oversee production operations, optimize efficiency, and lead a high-performing team within a precision manufacturing environment. Responsibilities

• Oversee daily production activities to ensure targets are met on time and to the highest quality standards.
• Implement and monitor production schedules, coordinating resources to maximize efficiency.
• Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory requirements at all times.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives in production processes, cost control, and productivity.
• Lead, mentor, and motivate production teams to achieve company goals.
• Collaborate with engineering, quality, and supply chain teams to ensure smooth workflow.
• Utilize ERP and production planning software to manage operations effectively.
• Monitor machine utilization, downtime, and production metrics to drive performance improvements.

Requirements

• National Diploma or Degree in Mechanical / Industrial Engineering or equivalent.
• Trade-tested Artisan (e.g., Fitter & Turner, Toolmaker) with management experience may be considered.
• 8–10 years in a CNC/manual machining environment with close tolerance machining.
• Minimum 3–5 years in a management role.
• Strong experience with production planning software and ERP systems.
• Excellent leadership and people management skills.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Ability to work in a high-pressure environment with tight deadlines.
• Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to quality and safety.
