KAMOA COPPER SA is looking for a Foreman, General Day Shift

The Kamoa Copper Mine is a joint venture between Ivanhoe Mines (39.6%), Zijin Mining Group (39.6%), Crystal River Global Limited (0.8%) and the Government of the Democratic Republic of Congo (20%). It’s a very large, near-surface, flat-lying, stratiform copper deposit with adjacent prospective exploration areas within the Central African Copperbelt, at approximately 25 kilometres west of the town of Kolwezi and about 270 kilometres west of the provincial capital of Lubumbashi.

• To oversee the operation and maintenance of electrode system to achieve long-term monitoring and optimization.
• To maintain a stable coke feeding system and achieve sustainable copper reduction in slag in line with the business plan
• To operate off gas system effectively and efficiently to ensure zero CO emission to the environment
• To manage SCF operations and equipment effectively on a shift basis to achieve planned production safely
• To organise, supervise and mentor the SCF shopfloor in a manner that ensures safe delivery of high-quality products and meet daily production targets

You will have the following:

• Must have a diploma/ degree in Metallurgy, Chemical or production management.
• Must have at least 5 years working experience in smelting, preferably copper
• Proficiency in business English is mandatory. Working knowledge of French will be considered highly advantageous.

• Operation, control and maintenance of anode furnaces

• Coordinate and supervise the team and work to ensure safe and efficient operations of the SCF during the shift
• Supervise and ensure effective and efficient production operations
• Control the production process and monitor production records
• Supervise daily maintenance and inspection of equipment
• Stakeholder management – Build working relationships across teams and functional lines to enhance work delivery, collaboration and innovation
• People: Coordinate, monitor and supervise the performance of direct reports
• Finance: Support cost efficiencies and reduce waste
• Transformation- Support the Transformation agenda
• Integrate HSEQ into all work processes
